Lamivudine has a high rate of antiviral resistance. Sequential anti-HBV treatment is commonly used for lamivudine resistance. We report 4 cases with rapid re-detection of HBV mutants during the lamivudine re-treatment.

Thirteen fluorescent labeled polymorphic microsatellite markers were analyzed in 83 cases of colorectal carcinoma and matched normal tissue DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). PCR products were eletrophoresed on an ABI 377 DNA sequencer. Genescan 3.7 and Genotype 3.7 software were used for loss of heterozygosity (LOH) scanning and analysis. Compared with clinicopathological features, significant relationship was observed between LOH frequencies on D4S3018 locus.

Ampullary small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma is extremely rare and has only been documented in few case reports and retrospective study. The patients with ampullary small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma usually presented after the age of 60 years, and a male predilection was observed. Only two cases of a small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma associated with an adenoma have been described in a retrospective study. There has been no radiology report describing the imaging features of these coexisting tumors of the ampullary region.

Probiotic bacteria are widely used to relieve the symptoms of many disorders such as inflammatory bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and allergies. Probiotic mixtures have also been found to reduce the symptoms of diarrhea. In children a probiotic bacterium L. rhamnosus GG has been shown to prevent the onset of atopy and allergies.
