Kaiser Permanente study shows 1 in 7 women are depressed before, during or after pregnancy

New Kaiser Permanente study, the first comprehensive study of maternal depression and the largest of its kind, shows that more than one in seven women are depressed some time during the nine months before, during or after pregnancy. To be published in the October issue of The American Journal of Psychiatry, the study also found that nearly three-quarters of women who are diagnosed with post-partum depression had been depressed before becoming pregnant.
